“It feels like the hug you didn’t expect but turns out to be exactly what you needed.” A comment from a past camper describing their Camp Phoenix experience. This motivated us to continue our efforts to host this recreational event.
For adults living with Type 1 diabetes in the UK, opportunities to come together face-to-face, away from clinical settings, are rare. That’s why Camp Phoenix was created — the only diabetes camp for adults in the UK, focused on mental health, community, and support.

What is Camp Phoenix?
Held from 18–20 July, this year at the beautiful Woodrow High House in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, Camp Phoenix is more than just an adult type 1 diabetes retreat in the UK — it's a space where real connections happen.
We blend outdoor fun, creative games, and open conversations about life with T1D, creating a powerful environment for Type 1 diabetes mental health support.

Why the Phoenix?

It represents resilience and rebirth — something every person with Type 1 diabetes understands on a deep level. Camp Phoenix isn’t about medical lectures; it’s about empowering each other to rise stronger through shared experiences and laughter.
What to Expect
From the first day, we unleash our inner child. Campers form teams and compete in our iconic fruit phoenix mascot challenge — a fun, creative way to build connections quickly.
We mix outdoor activities with real talk — about burnout, identity, stigma, dating, technology, and the everyday rollercoaster of managing Type 1 diabetes.
It’s light-hearted and serious. Playful and powerful. Exactly what a true Type 1 diabetes community should feel like.
Comfort + Connection

You’ll sleep in cosy Manor House dorms with private bathrooms (more glamping than camping), and we offer onsite parking and local train station pickups. We’ve thought of the logistics, so you can focus on what matters — recharging your mind and connecting with others in the T1D UK network.
Created By People Who Get It
Paula, Gavin, and Simran — the founders of Camp Phoenix — all live with Type 1 diabetes. They created this camp in 2019 because they saw a huge gap in in-person T1D support in the UK. Now, 5 camps later, it’s a tradition rooted in compassion, empowerment, and community.
